ABOUT SARAH

Sarah Kraning is an American abstract artist, speaker, and playwright with synesthesia. Born with various auditory-based forms of the rare trait, Sarah experiences sound as color, texture, and motion. Her work is inspired by her multi-sensory experiences of sound. Intriguing and resonating with a global audience, her story and art has attracted millions of views across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Kraning’s work garnered acclaim and recognition from the likes of GRAZIA magazine, People Magazine, HGTV, and the Guggenheim Museum magazine; the latter featuring her artwork and story as a modern-day comparison to renowned synesthetic painter Wassily Kandinsky.

Music has been a constant mainstay of her work, with Kraning collaborating frequently with musicians around the world; producing live concert painting events, the audience being able to witness her painting alongside musicians as they perform in high-energy performances. Her vivid and bold style has captured the attention of leading musicians worldwide, with commissions and collaborations from artists such as Kevin Jones (The Jonas Brothers), James Hunt (RÜFÜS DU SOL), Bob Moss, Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction), and Armani White.

Kraning’s recent work has become synonymous with an impassioned activism for environmentalism; something that has been a cause close to the artist from a young age. Through Kraning’s recent creative ambassadorship with Leonardo DiCaprio’s wildlife restoration organization Re:wild, she is currently creating a series that showcases the colors, textures, and movement of nature's soundscapes fused with the colors of popular music across a wide range of genres.
